Fourth grade artists are learning about the art form of architecture. Specifically, they are observing and discussing Painted Lady houses and the possible reasons why these houses are given this specific title. After discussing this type of architecture, students started creating an artwork depicting their own version of a painted lady house. They could choose from three possible projects, a painting, mixed media collage, or tissue paper collage. In each artwork they had to show me what they know about the type of architecture and their use of art elements. What a fun way for the students to problem solve and practice creativity at the same time! The students are enjoying having a choice when it comes to what art project to complete!
